ABOUT US

Intertown Transport (ITT) was started in 1979 by Peter Bokelmann. Four years later, in 1985, Rob Tomlinson joined Peter and became a shareholder. Rob later became the sole shareholder after the tragic passing of Peter in 1991. Grant Tomlinson, our current MD, joined his brother, Rob, before Rob sold Intertown Transport to John Keates in 1996. Grant became a partner in the business 1 year later. John’s son Gavin Keates also became a shareholder in 2004 but in 2012, the current partners, Grant Tomlinson and Jonathan Meyer, bought all of the Keates family’s shares.

1979

ITT IS FOUNDED
1979 – Peter Bockleman founds ITT, known then as "Rapid Freight", focusing on fast, efficient transport services.
1985

EMPHASIS ON AFFORDABLE RATES
Rob Tomlinson joins the team, bringing a fresh energy and commitment to affordable deliveries—only R12 for the first 15kg!
1991

START OF A NEW CHAPTER
Rob becomes the sole shareholder. Grant Tomlinson also joins the company, marking the start of a new chapter.
1996

NEW OWNERSHIP
Rob sells the company to John Keates.
1997 - 2012

A PARTNERSHIP IS BUILT
Grant Tomlinson becomes a partner, and by 2012, Grant and Jonathan Meyer take full ownership, ensuring ITT stays a family business at heart.
2017

SERVICE EXCELLENCE CONTINUES
ITT delivers over 2.2 million parcels annually, always striving to live up to our motto: "Large enough to handle, small enough to care."
2020

THE ITT FAMILY GROWS
Ken Light Joins the ITT team as a Director.
